NDP's Georgina Jolibois Will Continue to Fight for Resources in Rural and Remote Communities
LA RONGE – NDP candidate Georgina Jolibois (Desnethé-Missinippi-Churchill River) said that she will continue to fight for all-weather roads and airport improvements in remote and rural communities to get people moving.
“Wollaston Lake has been fighting for years for an all-weather road to ensure people can move safely and bring supplies to their community at any time of the year,” said Jolibois. “Fond du Lac also needs support to improve their airport, build an all-weather road, and a new community center. It is my priority to see these projects completed to make life better for people.”
Decades of Liberal and Conservative governments have neglected the infrastructure needs of the North. Fond du Lac is still fighting for much-needed improvements to their airport, following a fatal crash in December 2017. They were previously promised funding by Trudeau's Liberals, but the money was redirected by the province of Saskatchewan.
“Our communities are tired of getting the run-around from governments,” added Jolibois. “We need real leadership that will ensure funding is directly given to communities for their projects. Improving our communities is my priority.”
Over the past four years, Jolibois has met with many communities in northern Saskatchewan about the projects they need to be done.
“There’s no need to start over or to renew talks again – communities don’t want to start fresh. They’re looking for action, and I’m ready to work for them,” said Jolibois.
